Who is a Hand Rejuvenation Candidate?
If you are noticing that the backs of your hands have lost youthful volume and tendons and veins are beginning to show, you may be able to benefit from hand rejuvenation. Ideal candidates will be healthy with realistic expectations for the outcome of their procedure. A consultation with Dr. Cusimano is needed to help determine candidacy.
The Hand Rejuvenation Procedure
During hand rejuvenation with fat transfer, fat is harvested from on area of the body, washed and purified, and then carefully re-injected into the backs of the hands. First, you and your surgeon will select an area to harvest the fat, such as the hips, abdomen, or back. Then, the fat will be removed with liposuction and be processed and prepared for re-injection. The fat is then re-injected into the backs of the hands using a small needle or cannula. The process is repeated until the desired correction has been achieved.
